Paypal alternative
Hi
I have a website from which users will be allowed to download a program for a trial period.
The program will run for 100 days and will then stop, requiring to be re-activated.
The re-activation is carried out by accessing a web page which executes a cab file, the aim is to ensure that this page is only accessible after payment of a one off fee using a credit card.
I have spent around three weeks trying to implement paypals IPN and PDT scripts in order to try to create this web page on the fly when a user pays with a card, however I found paypal support to be less than helpfull and eventually gave up.
I am hoping that someone may have some advice that will help here. My html and cgi experience is limited !!!
Thanks in advance
GB

If you are located in the Eurozone, you could check out MoneyBookers as an alternative. It looks like they process most credit cards, too.

Have you used PayPal's sandbox environment? I have set up a few websites that make use of their IPN, and although it can be frustrating at times to set up, the sandbox helps.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the replies.
I will take a look at your suggestion webwiz, thanks.
pr0gr4mm3r, I tried the sandbox and hit problems.
I suspect that some of them were due to my own webhost firewalling the handshake. My webhost is supanames, cheap and cheerfull but not much else. I am actually looking for another webhost at the moment, preferably one who offers a bit more support (proven handshake access to paypal would be beneficial).
It is possible that the problems were entirely due to supanames, however the support from paypal was still dreadfull.
Thanks again
GB

The PayPal Development Forums may be able to help you. Also, I wrote a blog post a while back with some better sample code if you wanted to look it over.

Hi,
My name is Chuck. I read what ya'll had to say and I went to e-junkie. I loved what I saw.
Here is my problem.
I am new to HTML. I have written my website page (It's not live yet). It is only the first page.
I have written and put my e-book into pdf format and saved on my desktop.
I do not know what to do next.
How to I get my e-book connected to my website and to a download button that e-junkie will provide?
The following is how I want my website to work:
Main page - buy button - order page - order completion
I know this is simple, but maybe it will be affective as well.
Thanks
Chuck

I was finding an alternative to paypal for long time. I feel that there are no alternative to it. my point is this. 70% of the buyers use PayPal though we have some other option they cannot pay us if we don't have paypal.

Paypal pretty much has thier hands in every paying network on the web... It's almost impossible to accept payments without them.

Money bookers offer effectively a redirect to their e-wallet but there are others offering e-wallet services like : Neteller, Click&Buy, Quicktender.ewalletXpress,Actecash, ezipay, solidpay, payspark etc.
I believe if knowledge serves correctly click&buy don't have a minimum amount of payments fee which means you can integrate into their API and sit there waiting for orders only revenue sharing with them once you start making money.
Alteratively WYSIWYG sites like Mr Site offering the paypal checkout pre-built in. All you do is create you pages. I used this to create my e-shop {link removed}
Each page allows up to 99 products for online purchasing. The checkout itself is pretty basic unless you buy the pro package. Take a look at my product page for a example
