Theres millions of them. The only way to establish what is right for you is to check some out. If you tell us the kind of payments you'll be processing, what volume and where your based someone may be able to reccomend something more up your street.
Thanks a lot, I will check them out. I am looking for a processor that can handle around 500 transactions a month. I live in washington if that helps find better ones
First of all, hello everyone!
I though paysystems went out of business? Am I mistaking or is it so?
Anyway, do you guys know some processors which would work in Eastern Europe? I think worldpay would work, but they're very expensive. Anyone having some more suggestion? I'd be very grateful if you could answer me. Thanks!
P.S. Sorry about bringing back a relatively old thread.
I'm also looking around at the moment for a good payment processor. I looked into Protx which looks like it could be good when we're up and running but paying £20 a month when we're not making anymoney seems a bit harsh.
Does anyone know of one thats good for a starter company that isn't going to make many sales in the first year?
Well, I'm pretty much looking for the same thing... of course in my case it also has to work in my country. I suppose paypal would be good for this, not for me though. I've also found 2checkout (although they have a $49 setup fee and pretty high transaction fees). Another one could be ikobo, but don't know very much about it, just that they have low fees, so maybe it will do. Can't say just yet, will have to look further into this.
assuming your customer has a paypal account. Most of the people we're aiming at won't. It kills the impulse if they have to go register elsewhere before they can buy your goods
Maybe Paypal would have been my choice if I could use it, but you see, my country isn't covered by their services, so there's pretty much nothing I can do about it. Their coverage doesn't include my country, so I suppose I have to look for some sort of alternative service. Could anyone suggest anything which works in Eastern Europe. I'll go and try to find something myself as well, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
even now they don't make you register before submitting payment info?
Admittedly registering for paypal before you could buy was a big turnoff of paypal for my site, but now they don't have to i think i'll use it until we get guarenteed money coming in.
Who have you decided to go with for your payment gateway?
HSBC have a payment gateway. It's pretty complicated to setup but I've already done it once for a client, so repeating it for myself should be pretty straight foward.
Hello! I have found this thread as was searching for a cheap and reliable payment processor working for European merchant. I do know there are many payment processing services but most of them work fine in USA and Canada. So it seems 2checkout, ikobo and Moneybookers are most suitable for me. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hmm, it appears that Eastern Europe has begun to get into thins online business thing.
Anyway, I've found these reviews about 2checkout recently and it made me change my mind about them a little bit. Maybe this ikobo I keep hearing about is my only choice, at least for starting out. I'll tell you more once I know more.

I also suppose ikobo to be a good choice for beginners (especially those PayPal is not available for). At least ikobo doesn’t require signing up fee and it’s idea with ikard seems to be great. I think it’s really convenient to withdraw money at any Visa ATM (there are many of them in every region) anytime I wish.
I thought paysystems went out of business a while ago, without any notice causing many people to lose money in the process. There are countless posts about this, with folks looking for alternatives to replace the defunct paysystems. I could be wrong, although I don't think so...
I suppose, but what is your question? Are you going to use it, have you decided in favor of another service?
You're right, the ikard is a pretty good idea, but I think you should try it first to tell us personal impressions instead of what you've read online.
Are or aren't you using it?
I am not using ikobo yet. I am going to create an account with them soon. I want other customers to express their attitude towards ikobo. It would be great to hear anyone’s experience. Thanks.
Oh great! So you're just like me... in decision phase. I just wish I could speak to someone with more experience at this. Apparently we're both relative noobs in this business. Eh well, I've read other reviews, opinions, testimonials and so on and so forth and apparently the majority are in favor of ikobo (with the obvious exceptions of course) so I suppose it wouldn't hurt giving it a try since it's free to sign up.
ulrich wrote: ...so I suppose it wouldn't hurt giving it a try since it's free to sign up.
The same with me… Almost the main reason for me to sign up with ikobo was the fact that it’s free. So, actually I don’t loose anything. Also it seems ikobo’s popularity is constantly growing, it attracts more and more customers. I am going to create my own ikobo account today .
Hello everyone! How are you doing with ikobo, Urlich? I have already signed up with them and completed my first transaction. Now my recipient is waiting for his ikard to arrive .
Hi every body, I read your some of your messages in the forum.
I understand about your concerns in your payment processors.
Just wanna tell you that you have an alternative processor now
and we are much different from other processors because our
system is directly connected to the Card Associations.
So drop me a mail if you are interested. I'll be glad to help you.

Paypal has been doing really good for us, though we have been using wire but it would take longer period of time for bank transfers... e-passporte is good as well..
Yeah, the nice thing about 2checkout is you can never be in the red, as there's no monthly fee. The downside is that they take slightly more off the top to make up for it. $0.49 + 5.5%, I believe.
It's a trade-off. If you get enough regular business to justify the monthly fees, you might go with someone else.
Be careful with PayPal. If you have a business that does network marketing or even MLM, and you use PayPal for membership fees, you can get banned and forever blacklisted from using PayPal. It happened to me on a site that I have up. Not only did PayPal cancel my account, they froze over $1000 in monies for 180 days, and I can never have a PayPal account again.
Also, a word on leaving funds in their account - DONT! If you ever have your account frozen, they can and will hold your funds for up to 180 days. That can cripple your business.
If you've incorporation in US/Asian countries 2chckout and paypal both are good option to go with, and if you are an operational company in the EU, I would recommend worldpay or chronopay but as far as I know chronopay- they can provide 3rd party and merchant account, (no setup fees and no monthly fees fpr 3PP). Also they can offer a virtual termnal at no extra costs.
I also know of some bad experiences people/friends have had - balances of thousands of dollars lost, due to paypal's closure of accounts. For those who based their main payment processing on paypal, its effects are devestating on the business. They will freeze you just even for receiving payments from fraudsters. Always make sure to accept payments from accounts which are at least verified.
However personally I still use Paypal, due to the fact that it's the leader of its kind by far, thanks to EBay.
My ex-business partner had the same type of experience with PayPal. Basically, someone said he didn't deliver the product advertised, when, in fact, the person didn't read the description well enough. So all the money in his account was immediately frozen.
If you always take your money out right away, you'll probably be fine.
BTW, my clients have had no problems with 2Checkout.com yet, so everything looks good so far.
Not sure I understand the question. Do you have a dating sites you're wanting people to pay to use, and you need a payment processor that's okay with that?
Just check few things when you select a payment processor; Has their customer support been amazing?. Has it been more than acceptable ? How They've dealt with the vast majority of issues promptly, and those they haven't dealt with promptly on the first attempt, they've dealt with promptly when nudged.
I would stay away from EGold, it's a poorly organized payment system which takes no responsibility whatsoever of any transactions. Recently been scammed by a EGold exchanger - EGold's answer, "it's your problem", not even an investigation launched. Later found out many other people got scammed the same way. Most disgustingly the website is still online today this minute taking people's money.
Hence removed EGold straight away.
Stormpay seems OK, did recieve the cheques promptly. However I was very disappointed with the amount of time it took and details it gave of a client payment chargeback. Pretty much nothing at all. I do not like services which "don't say much". Thinking of stop using stormpay. The aura is just not good when I visit the site.
I'd be sticking all business transactions to the very few, most reputed processors from now on. I'd urge everybody to do the same.
