I suggest you to use X-Cart – ecommerce shopping cart software:

Beside all other features this software is based on PHP Smarty templates, this makes it very flexible and easy to modify. for more details http://www.x-cart.com/

This reads suspiciously like an advert, particularly since I visited the site and there aren't any shopping carts on offer. Just some vague 'we do e-commerce' information.

Sorry if I have this wrong, but we've had a lot of people turning up on the forums using the ask a question then answer it (using a different user name) to plug their product/company. This looks like another case of that.

Please at least offer some useful information, the original poster is looking for a shopping cart, not consulting services. Thanks. Smiling

Hi!!! Well this was not an advert!
I just thought of giving a recommendation!
Since we as a company is using a very good shopping cart software from Semaphore!
I am not sure of the website... content but yes can only say that the software is really good! Double -checking the URL I have: *snip*
And if not found, I think they have a good contact into page. Let me put it as a piece of information: *snip* I don't have much details of them as of now. But I shall try to fetch it for good!!! Thanks Smiling

But I know it's an advert because you just posted the URL again. That's a sign of desperation if ever there was one. If you had told us that it's not an advert without desperately posting the URL again I probably would have believed you.

Even if it's not an advert, there's no useful information on their Web site. So it's not very helpful.

Let me just make this totally clear: we don't have any problem with people promoting their own companies, we have a forum for advertising. But you have to be an active member of the site first, once you've posted 25 posts and been a member for 14 days you can post in that forum. Is this too much to ask?

Actually we wish our good members would advertise themselves more. The good members never take the opportunity to advertise their services, but they give the most to the forums. The ones who want to post advertising are the ones who never want to give anything back.

So, why don't you become a real member? Instead of signing-up, searching the site for 'e-commerce' then spamming your links in any threads that you find.

My first shopping cart is MIVA Merchant 4 and then upgraded to 5. Having this shopping is great as it is a friendly SEO. You can do a static page for your products then just link the add to cart button from this shopping cart. But if you want to try out this shopping cart the host server should be able to serve the bandwidth it will use as it really eats a lot.

Then after using MIVA Merchant I'am now using a shopping cart called ASHOP, it is an easy to use shopping car where you can try out there cart for a few days before you can decide if you want them or not.

One of the new kids on the open source cart scene is Prestashop. Although I personally prefer osCommerce, Prestashop looks like a professional and admin friendly cart solution, and you won't need much coding experience to get it going.

There areb plenty of choices out there, Magento, Prestashop, Cubecart, Zen cart, oscommerce, they are all ecommerce software which will do the trick. You can also go the route of Drupal or Joomla which are open source content managed software for your site that you can get a bolt on shopping cart software to sell your goods.

have done a bit of research for a few weeks on the same subject as Im looking to move 2 sites over to a new shopping cart software.
For me the software im going with it Prestashop because its simple to use and has everything you need (I need) straight out of the box. It also has excellent capabilities for seo without the need for bolton modules. The downside is there isnt as a big a support as other more established cart softwares and there aren't as many features out there. Its new, so you have to take the rough with the smooth and see if it will suit your needs.

Good luck

It's really hard to choose between the shopping carts as there are so many of them around. Though i would disagree with the statement that oscommerce is the best. As for me, it lacks in the development lately.

As to zen cart - yes it's not a bad choice. Magento and X-cart are also worth to try. Each of them has some drawbacks. You just have to stick to something that has most of what you need.

As I alredy mentioned here - when you need help with switching to some other shopping cart try - cart2cart web service. They will automate your data transfer.

I would like to recommend zen-cart. It is powerful enough for you to build any size e-commerce sites and its plug-in system allows you to add new functions and features to your site freely. The best is it is an fully supported open-source project, secured and easy to use. IMO.

Have a good day,

In my opinion Merchandizer Pro is a good shopping cart software available now. It is easy to use. There is a customer's log in page, which allows them to see their order history and personal details, which they can update if necessary.

How about the free one called osCommerce ?

Depending on your requirements, fiveself might be a good choice, its super inexpensive, especially for whats included. It also looks pretty hip, you can customize the look and feel pretty easy too, no coding. I've had no issues with them to replace my bigcartel site. Starts at 4.99/mth with 30 days free, which is a pretty crazy deal.

I will go for BossCart Ecommerce Shopping Cart. They have 2 versions: free and premium. The support is very good, they offer a large variety of ecommerce shopping cart templates.

Don't use osCommerce. It's outdated core. X-Cart, ZenCart, CRE Loaded and Magento are the best imho. Also there are powerful store managers for that carts. Just google to find out...

Grut has some good suggestions, i.e. X-Cart, ZenCart, and Magento (the free version!), but I'm actually partial to cs-cart. It's under three hundred bucks and also includes a CMS which has been a welcome addition for our clients. If you want to see a cs-cart implementation, click almost any of the links in my signature and you can get a good idea of what is possible. Just keep in mind that what we did was pretty heavily customized. Still, a basic implementation looks nice as well.
