After school (and my exams) totally finishes, I'm going to get more serious about offering my services as a freelance web designer, at the moment I've just been doing it on and of and not really taking it too seriously.

So, I'd just like to ask all those freelancers and web designers out there, what do you put into a contract that your client and you sign?

This is what I have so far:
Client

    * Provide up-to-date and relevant information required for the site.
    * Promptly provide all details and information required by the web designer.
    * Notify the web designer of any changes I want made regarding my site.

'
I also have something saying along the lines of a payment of [amount] every [period of time] and if its not paid then there will be penalty of 10% (too much?) of the total still owing and it will get componded everytime payment is missed.

Web Designer - Me

    *  Work with the client to provide fast, friendly and efficient service.
    * Request for any details (major or minor) regarding the clients' site.
    * Keep the client informed about the site and its progress online and offline.
    * Suggest to the client any ideas which may or may not improve the site.

'

What should or should not be in there? What have I spelt/stated wrong?

When mentioning content, you may want to stipulate "in electronic format" so that you don't get stuck with a bunch of printed material and photos to scan.

Beyond that, I'm not really the best source of information considering that I almost never use a contract. I *do* have one here somewhere but it is pretty much the standard web design contract that you've probably found floating around out there.
