Anyone here use Elance either as a buyer or as a provider. Just curious because I have signed on as a provider.

I know someone who was successful on Elance as a writer - I have never tried it for web work.

I am still trying to get my first project on (free) Guru.com Sad
I have had success with Craigslist, some long-term clients

Please keep us posted with your Elance success stories!

I outsource a lot of my work to Elance. Love it! You need to thoroughly check out the Providers portfolio first though.

elance and odesk are good sites to look at if you're going to outsource or hire a freelancer. you will never get scammed because of their fool proof attendance system. everything is in black and white. great sites.

How true is this?

I've used freelance sites before, as well as other services unrelated to internet/web services, and when another party is involved, especially in another country, being scammed/ripped off/stolen from is hard to avoid or counter.
Regardless of the service or industry being used.

Elance is one of the best job site for freelancers. I never tried it but I have lots of friends working through Elance. Even the company for which I work is solely based on Elance.

I have used elance couple of times to outsource my work. Had a good experience so far. You just need to be very careful who your provide your projects to.

I have just registered as a buyer. I think it is quiet good. If you want to win the good projects on Elance and make some real money, the first thing you need to know is how to choose your battles.

I think the prices even for some easy tasks on Elance are very expensive.

I have recently joined elance as a provider & subscribed as a paid member under the small business plan. Its been only a few days but still got no luck. I think it might take some more time before I get any attention. Any suggestions on how to become a top provider on elance? It will be very helpful for me. Please guys.
