Domain Name Reselling

I plan on starting a project for the selling of domain names and I would like to hear some ideas/suggestions you guys may have.

I don't plan of just being a reseller, but to purchase targeted names and seek to sell them specifically. I currently own a few I want to sell so that's where I got the idea.

Any thoughts?

Nothing personal but I look down on it when I find a domain I might want and it turns out someone is selling it for 1,000 - 10,000 (USD) when I know they bought it for 9$ (or less)

I understand, I used to feel the same...but real estate is real estate. Some domains are worth much more than $9 and if I can get them for that, cool by me....IMO.

Hi TortillaBoy,

For starts you need to add your domains to domain sellers like sedo.com and don't stop there add them to as many domain seller sites as you can find, be sure to read their terms !

Second host all of you domains with some text and keywords that you thing is relevant to domain name and of course a nice juicy "This Domain Name is For Sale !". Also add links to your other domains on that page.

Third do the same for every domain name.

A domain name that has traffic to it adds value and will of course get more bites !

sedo is a must if you ask me and they also have some good info on domain selling as well.

Good luck !

What about Ebay? Anyone have experience selling domains on ebay. I just added 3 but wonder if I should do something different to maximize my efforts.

I quit looking on ebay for domain names a while ago, go tired of so many domain names posted in wrong areas. Wasn't worth my time.

"Great 3-letter domain name" - Click - "4-W3.com" is for sale. Sorry, that is NOT three LETTERS... LOL

however if you ahve more targeted ones, might be better, I browse domain names for short ones

'ThePopeDied.com' jees... why do you think anyone is going to be interested in that. In a matter of days there will be another pope and your domain name will be worthless.

I've been working for a large UK domain registration company for several years now and have seen people blow hundreds of thousands on domain names and sell very few. Certainly, I've never seen anyone make any profit. Don't waste your time or money.

Yeah, I've been thinking the pope domain decision was a bit rash, oh well. I appreciate your input, I need my unexperienced enthusiasm doused with a bit of reality. Smiling

But before you are too much of a naysayer, be aware that I am now in the process of selling my Tortillaboy.com for $1100.00 Doesn't sound like a waste, huh?

If you don't mind me asking Changa man, is that price for just the domain name or have you weaved the website into the equation too? Just wondering

The thing with domains is that they only have value if they are worth something to someone. for instance, banks.com, sex.com, beauty.com all have value because they are usable. Tortillaboy.com will be valuable only if someone needs it for something.
