I am designing a site that will need to be able to accept credit cards. The client does not want to pay a programmer or bare the responsability of having a CC database.
SO... I am looking for any provider that :[=1]

  • will not look like you have even left the site.
  • Will not cost one arm and more.
  • can use or has a good shopping cart.
  • [*]someone has had good experience with and might have an example.
    [/=1]

    Thanks for your help.[/]

If you'd like to be able to customize the CC processing page then I suggest http://www.2checkout.com/ (we're using them for our web hosting company)

    Other option are paysystem.com.

We use 2checkout.com and we like it alot. You can HIGHLY customize their checkout page using stylesheet.

I wouldn't recommend PayPal for charging creditcards. You can have it as an alternate method for those that would rather pay via their PayPal account, but not for charging creditcards. I've seen too many people get their account closed because of chargebacks, etc. They lost all the money they had in their account.

    I agree with you too.

Paypal is good for personal use and for sending money. Use 2checkout or paysystem if you need to accept credit card for your business.

You can get a real merchant account if you live in the states.

That would be a much better solution if you want to expand later

If the client gets merchant account, your client will accept all responsibility for chargebacks and orders. Depending on the load of ordering, this may be a less expensive route, but it will require the client to do most of the work (verify orders, be responsible for checking that the user is valid).

    MrByG,

Check out the webhostingtalk.com forum. I think there are some Authorize.net + Wells Fargo combination.
