I don't think that you will find such a thing very cheap if you can find it for $1200/year than that is probably the cheapest they get. To get one your site has to be scanned every day by their bot or a human to see if it is a secure site, if your site is found to be vulnerable to an attack the badge will not show up anyways.
Unless you are running a big business with lots of income and products to sell I would probably not go with this, however you might want to look into a comodo ssl package, they have a simmilar badge system and it is a secure connection. There are other ssl venders as well, and most have some sort of trial thing, so you can test a few and see what you like best.
Comodo badge would be displayed in the lower right corner of the browser.
I found the mcafee secure site badge for $319/year Here
Hope this helps,

There is a difference between a badge that shows the site is secure as far as a SSL connection and secure as in tested for site vulnerabilities.
We had a client that came to us needing issues looked at that McAfee was reporting. The big issues that we fixed for them was where input from a form or query string could directly be shown on the site, allowing potential misuse of their site, allowing it to be possibly used for phishing attempts.
Not only do they give pretty good details, they give you examples of links/posts to the page showing how it can be misused.

OK, I had no idea at how the mcafee worked, I thought it was just an ssl certificate with a bot that went through and tested it to make sure it was working properly.
It looks interesting though.
The mcafee that I mentioned above is for certified pci which ranges from $319 to $1869 depending on the number of devices. Looking more in depth on this, it appears to be for credit card transactions. Is that what the McAfee is for? Credit card tranactions?

As far as I know, you can get it for any site, however, non e-commerce sites probably don't have as critical need for it, or the financing.
ie. One of the things found was the site I fixed didn't clense input from the contact us form, and directly displayed it back on the site. They tested it by submitting all kinds of closing tags to break out what ever tag your form input was in, and then putting up an iframe to display over your site to show their test site.

Thanks for the info guys, I was looking for some more info on prices on these things but as I see it's probably not that critical for me to use one because of the cost.
