Backlinks/ inbound links
Besides forums, trading links, and submitting your website to directories, is there any other way to increase the number of backlinks and inbound links to a website?
To be more specific the website Phase2Studio I'm trying to increase links to is a online magazine with a 15 to 35 year old young men target market. The site contains original comic strips, game reviews and personal viewpoint articles.
Any help would be great, thanks

It looks like you have a lot of good content. The key is to find people who might want to link to that. You could try seeding your comics & articles in social bookmarking sites and see if they get picked up (try StumbleUpon).
You could also try to build relationships with bloggers on similar topics (or who would target similar audiences).
Go to seomoz.org and look for posts about "linkerati".

commenting on dofollow blogs can be done but you may find rare high PR pages where your keyword will sit

You can increase the number of back links through social bookmarking. Commenting on blogs is also a great method to increase the back links.

Make your website useful content and that will attract links naturally.. You can link bait, the process that one goes through to attract links that matters, not whether you prefer to think of your content as bait for links.

I recommend you start by adding social networking icons to your blog by using a plugin. This will encourage people to advertise your content for you.
