The important bit is that if you've visited a website (that you had a username/password stored on your computer for) and instead of getting the website you got a load of ads, you need to change your password for that site.
Luckily we have our own DNS server at home, so all resolution of frequently visited domains is done locally. Anyone with the wherewithall to do the same should, it's more secure and speeds the Internet up overall (especially useful if your ISP is rubbish like ours)
