Here's a fun question: what all is on your desk right now? I'm trying to rearrange things here but there's just too much clutter! I've got:

scanner
speakers
monitor
webcam
empty package from new headset (headset is currently on the floor)
stack of papers/bills/notes to self
post-it notes
empty bowl (just finished dessert)
plastic water glass
3 bottles nail polish
lip balm
blue highlighter
pencil cup with writing utensils
hand lotion
almost empty water bottle
glass with chai tea drink
paper holder with more assorted papers
phone
desk lamp
cable modem
found a piece of paper way at the back with a yoga sequence on it Confused

Need to clean this up! I'm not normally this sloppy Laughing out loud

So what have you got on your desk? I'll post my work list tomorrow.

Whats on my desk? easiest way to answer is - whats not on my desk

Ok it's not that bad, well maybe it is, I think my large corner desk (about 2 x 2 meters) is a woodgrain colour, or maybe was a grey colour, hmmm, nope am sure it's woodgrain Wink

At least the floor is clean Laughing out loud and for the record it isn't always like this, I started to have a clean up but ummm, got side tracked, am just waiting for spring now - spring clean

this is a tricky one for me, I have two desks, but don't use them much. Most of my time at work I'm in my recliner with my laptop.

But on the desks:

Desk 1, that has my official company computer:
tape deck
4 channel mixer (these 2 items for getting recorded church services into the computer)
3 of my 6 speakers
19" flat monitor (main display)
17" non flat monitor (keep chat/e-mail/winamp on this one)
good old fashioned IBM clicky keyboard (pre windows, but can't beat it)
optical mouse
Pen tablet
Tower
headphones
usually a epson cx5200 scanner/printer, but it's at church for a little while
TONS of paper needing sorted
screwdrivers
batteries
water jug
spindle of cds

Desk 2: where I work other systems
Regularrly here:
handheld radio scanner (listen to hometown fire dept)
two spindles of CD's already burned
4 stacked up drawers of regular cd's
a linksys cable router (from when they first came out)
a linksys 5 port switch
staple
color laser printer
3 hole punch
pens/pencils
notepads
a taken apart power supply to repair connector
(curretnly working on)
17" monitor
dell tower that I'm turning into a second file server
keyboard
mouse
my PDA
my laptop bag
keys
cellphone

At home I don't have a desk, just use a recliner and my laptop and an end table for papers/etc.

At work here I also have a 2 drawer lateral cabinet for storing computer parts, plus about 8 other older towers for parts, and a "mailbox" style shelf unit for all the various types of papers I use for printing. And a cabinet under that full of misc stuff like paper cutters, laminator, other misc DTP items. on top of the mailbox I have my glasses, envelopes, phone, another spindle, box of most used CD's in the office papers, digital camera.

I'd take a picture and post it, but dang it's a mess in here! LOL

-Greg

PS. Just in case you are wondering, I use this office for more than just "work". I use the office for my audio hobbies and my DTP hobbies, neither of these are part of my job. Now that I'm married, I hope to take most of the extras to my new place and do things from there.

The only reason we have double monitors here at work is because they had a lot of extra ones hanging around (downsizing) and it wasn't going to cost much to upgrade the video card. I love it though. Awesome for development work.

I haven't been in my new cube for long, but it's nearly sterile looking. I have a LCD screen, phone, and two EMPTY inbin shelves. Then I bring a notebook (paper, not laptop), book, and a mug. That's it.

Through the course of the workday, piles appear, move around, and disappear. I like to get things off my desk ASAP. A cluttered desk just seems to clutter my mind. I don't get as stressed when there are no piles.

EMTEC 3 in 1 TFT Screen Cleaning (one box contains 10 sets of 2 cloths -1 wet with a special fluid, 2 dry to wipe it)

I got a off price for it when I was buying the monitor, they are not that cheap but I guess if you care that much it is not of your concern. They are quite good I must say Smiling (although I didn't use any other, heheh)

That why i do it, because no one else does, makes it unique. Females are always cleaner, i never know why.

I don't know about that "females are always cleaner"...

One summer I worked in the corp headquarters for a major drugstore chain, that became part of (or renamed to) a big drugstore chain out there.

I did sweeping, mopping, taking trash bags to dumpster, etc.

Their headquarters consisted of two buildings, and the one building had the "higher ups" in it. And the higher the floor you went, the higher the higher ups (of course).

That top floor WOMEN's room was the messiest restroom! I joked around with one of the ladies who had to clean them, i told her "this is why women are so neat at home, they get their messiness out of their system at work!" LOL

Now, I know this isn't true for all women, and in general women are cleaner, but reading that statement you posted just brought back memories of that job LOL.

PS. I was runnng late this morning, accidently forgot camera at home, so will have to wait for my picture. Plus I'm rearanging my office today anyhow.

Rearranging your office will take a long time if we look at the list you provided earlier Smiling

Ok, I started rearanging, and once I got enough junk off my desk to look decent, decided to take a picture now. (Wife brought me my camera with lunch). Here is my work area, sadly, no more recliner here....

(my office half of a room that is divided, my area is about 10'x11')

The first three pictures are of my mian work area. The last picture is of the desk/area behind me. It is REALLY messy now as it is where I'm throwing everything while I re-arange. Normally there is a monitor and computer up on the desk along with my laptop.

The final corner you can't see is a corner that has an old BBS system stacked up, (16 modems, boca baord, 2 tower systems, cd changers, keyboards, disks galore from the days of 3.5" disks being the main media)

I do "customize" my office. The 19" monitor, the chair, keyboard, mouse, tablet, cd burner, zip drive, color laser printer, lateral, black desk, switch/router, all paper supplies (and all the laminator/paper cutters under the paper holder) are all mine. Smiling And OH the recliner... talk about comfortable days at work... LOL

Yup, one of the first ones, before everyone else started making them. Best $200 I ever spent! (yeah, and the suggest retail price at the time was $179 but they were in such demand paid $189 + shipping after calling like 10 places to fond someone who had them in stock)

Yeah, I understand what you mean there!

I'm planning on using the old BBS system for data entry at our church this fall for collecting signup info for 3000+ food baskets we give out. Last year they were looking for enough systems good enough to run windows and access. TBBS is a multi-user (can handle up to 64 connection with the version I have) and has a dBASE backend that is perfect, and I can connect 16 computers to the main system via a null modem. All the systems have to be able to do is boot to dos and run a terminal program (anyone remember BannanaComm, Telix or Procom Plus? LOL)

(PS, in case anyone is wondering, "What the heck is he talking about???", see http://tbbs.org/ )

off topic, but what brand of tft screen cleaning tissues do you use?

I'm paranoid about cleaning my laptop screen afraid of scratching it. I treid some cleaning tissues for glasses, that say can be used for laptop screens too, but unhappy with their results.
