Mine was a 486 as well, possibly 24MB of RAM but I don't remember for sure. 2 GB hard drive - I thought that was plenty at the time. It was an "all in one" computer - a PC built like an iMAC with the hard drive and monitor in one. His name was Elliot
I"m not sure what happened to it, I think it might be in my parents' attic somewhere...
That was my first year at university. My parents had a PC before that but I don't remember the specs at all.

A Commodore VIC-20 with a tape drive hooked to my TV was my first computer.
First "PC" have been an old XT (4 generations before pentium) computer with a 20meg HD, both floppies, no CD, running DOS 4.something, no windows.
First "Brand New PC" was a laptop computer, think it was 286 with 12.2 B&W display running win 3.1

wow.. some of you guys had really 'primitive' pc's, guess i just started out late with computers
But the pc that i had bought at that time was pretty much top of the line stuff, and set me back by about US$1300. now its probably not even worth 30 bucks

Ashish

Oh boy, dating myself here. 486 SX 33 with a whopping 2MB of RAM. I remember the day we decided 2 MB of RAM wasn't enough and shelled out several hundred dollars to double it to a whole 4 MB!

Heck Asish you haven't been doing this long enough! Mine was a 486 Pentium overdrive 133MHz with 8 meg of RAM & a 100Mb harddrive. The harddrive needed upgrading almost instantly!

I had an Advent. 8GB, Voodoo II Graphics card, 15" Monitor. Can't remember the rest.
The hard drive made clicking noises all the time and even though I'd taken it back twice to get it fixed it made no difference. I always suspected it was shoddy goods sold as new even though it was from a well known supposedly reputable supplier.
