ohh that X10 pop up is such a pain in the butt

I am actually looking for a camera but will never buy from them, nor there product because of the way they advertise. There way of advertising is worse than spam in the inbox.

Doesnt one of the main search engines show the most visited sites? I'm sure I've seen it somewhere.

I do have some new found respect for X10. They pulled their ads after the WTC and had a condolence message.

I think for an average youd have to find out what it was before the 11th Sept, as looking at those lists Mairving put up for us is mostly news and search sites, which is understandable.

I've seen a list like that before though and it's always like that. I get what you're saying though - why would you possibly spend 27 minutes at a time on Yahoo!?! Although maybe a lot of those are people using their e-mail service and that which could be left open for awhile.... but still!

I guess that they are kind of like the Nielson ratings. They are taken from random sampling since they could not possibly get all the data that they need.

Just curious though about what sites that you guys/gurls visit daily. Here are my top ten.

1. Google - my home page. I like it since it always loads fast and when I go from site to site, I always go to Google first to cover my tracks a bit.
2. Webmaster Forums - I have heard that it is a great place with great moderators.
3. PC Mechanic Forum - The best tech support site out there.
4.Hosting Matters Forum - have several accounts hosted here. Some very knowledgeable people.
5. MSNBC - check stocks, terrorism and sports scores.
6. WSJ - keep up with the business world
7. Drudge Report - Interesting news
8. MSN HotMail - check my spam
9. GoMemphis.com - my local news
10. ZD-Net - good tech info.

1. UWaterloo.ca - where I work..
2. Webmaster Forums - where else?
3. Yahoo.ca for news
4. TheRecord.com (local news)
5. Builder.com - web/tech news & forums... not much good there
6. Sitepoint.com - eh... it's alright...
7. Gymn.com forum
8. Gymn.ca forum
9. theStar.com (toronto newspaper... I'm turning into a news junkie these days!)
10. Hotmail - gotta check my spam too.

I'm getting low on good web design resource sites. All my old standby sites just aren't cutting it anymore. Most of them are either almost never updated with anything good or just go way over my head with the cutting edge stuff.

Sad I probably fall under the never updated category, but that is going to change soon.

1) javascript city forums -- mess of people there I like Laughing out loud
2) here -- half out of guilt; the rest because of the 'old' people I knew
3/4) sitepoint and wa -- i enjoy goofing on the wa mods (who goof back) and hate leaving all those sitepoint people without answers (because their mods don't do their work)
5/6) yahoo & google -- searches for maps, history, d&d
7+) random links -- as the beach boys said: surf city

Hi Marc,

How did I know that statement would get a rise out of someone? Laughing out loud

Seriously, though: in the client-side forum, the top 3 responders to problems are probably:
1) anachros
2) myself
3) aDog

And since you have an in to their 'mod/admin' forum: tell them I get very unamused and unhelpful when I see sticky threads with week-old dates and zero responses, especially when the thread is a server-side question. To me, that implies sitepoint is running a script to bump zero-reply threads and the mods/advisors are not doing their job.

Now, if the forum moderator doesn't know the solution, fine. But, at the least, the person should make an appearance.

BTW: I don't hand out pardons; that's Gerald Ford's job Laughing out loud
