sub-domain not accepted?
No idea, where to post such topic. If I am wrong please apologize me.
Sometimes I find people do not accept sub-domain. What’s the reason behind that? Can anybody explain why don’t they accept sub-domain? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jackie

Well, to be honest am not sure what you mean. Are you trying to make a subdomain and your hosting company won't allow it?

Sorry for the trouble Jeeves. Actually I have seen in some web directories, they don’t accept sub-domain. Do you know why? Hope I am clear now.

Frankly speaking I hear about this for the first time. Could you tell in details which directories don't accept sub-domains?

Knorr, here are the directories which do not accept sub-domain:

I think in this case it's their whim. SEs don't care if it's a domain or a sub-domain. It's the same for them if their position is right. That's why usually submits don't distinguish domains and sub-domains.

Ahh, it's because some directories etc. don't like free hosts, and if you've got a subdomain, it's very likely you've used a free host.
They avoid free hosts because they're connected to a lot of spam on the internet.

Agreed with heebie here, I expect they will only take you seriously if you have your own domain. It's a bit arbitrary, but I can imagine free hosting companies are very volatile and contain a lot of spam.
If you haven't bought the domain they probably think you're not serious about the site, no serious web designer uses free hosting for anything (even a blog).
