Ok folks, I'm starting a monthly stupid competition. Winners will be featured on each page in the nav column.
The stupid competion for this month is:
Write one sentence of a story about pirates in each post. The weirder (not too rude or offensive please!) the better. How do you win? Simple I have chosen a trigger word and when I see it in the text the author of that post wins.
All thoughts on this comp welcome, lets make it funny!!
JP
NB: for future comps I will be lining up some prises as well as the current exposure. Stuff from CD's to software. Watch this space!

What can I say? I'm a bush baby. Don't know nothin' 'bout the sea, 'cept what I think I remember from the old pirate movies I watched as a kid, and that was a few years ago, and the old grey cells don't seem to remember things all that clear anymore.

Ah the heck with it. Trying to make up excuses is just too much work. Ok I admit it....I'm weird.
Cheers

How about this as a comp. I post clues about a senior member on the boards 'he talks absolute nonsense', 'he posts more often than he breathes in', 'he name relates to the sea', 'hes been a member for less than 4 months' etc etc and you guys have to figure out who it is. You only get three guesses.
The latter was of course our very own Mike Fisher!
Thoughts?

Sure, why not? Better make sure your clues are sufficiently obscure enough that at least a couple of people will go bald in the process. I mean what good is a figure it out game, unless someone starts pulling their hair out in frustration.
Or you could take this idea one or two steps further. For example, choose a webpage for a town, city, state, province or country, give clues and the winner would be the first person to post the correct web address. Just a thought.
Cheers

Sorry to start this topic back up I just clicked on the link in the left navigation column though. Guess it did die.
This is another thing that we should do at TWF every month. Have a contest. This will attract people and keep them coming back.
Maybe we should start this after some more technical stuff get's done as posted in another forum.

I am in the process of coming up with another contest for November, to continue this tradition. I want to get the design and technical things taken care of first though, so look for this in a week or two.
