I was hired last week to be an assistant pre-school teacher for 3 year olds. Sometimes things just fall into your lap, y’know? One of my friends from scrap book crops is a pre-school teacher at a local church. She sent out an email last week hunting for a pre-school assistant for her. I talked to her and to the gal that hires and then I went into for an interview, which turned out to be an orientation as I was already hired and didn't know it.
7 boys and 5 girls, yup, just a dozen kids. The classroom is small and it’s really cute. The first day is the 11th with the kids, we had an open house yesterday and fixed up the room on Tuesday and Wednesday. The kids are pretty good, there is one that will be a problem, isn't there always one? But, I'm sure he will be fine once he's around the kids a lot more. Some of the kids are every day, some are M, W, F and some are Tuesday and Thursday. The kids are really cute and some are really shy, but I'm sure by the end of September they will all be happy campers.
The best part about the job, besides the money is that it's from 9-1 and is fixed with the public school schedule. Even though my youngest is a senior, she is 17 and it's nice to be home when she gets home from school. And I haven't worked in 5 years, so this is a nice way to get back into the work force. Holiday breaks and spring break as well as any holidays (like President's day) snow days are days off with pay. I also get 5 sick days. The last day of work will be in late May, which is great since graduation is in mid-June for my daughter.
Just wanted to share my good news!

Thanks Tim! It's even better than it sounds as the dress is casual. Just can't wear a hat or anything too revealing. I just wear t-shirts, jeans or shorts.

Wow, congrats. It's good to hear you're easing your way back into work. It would be quite a culture shock to go back full-time after five years off!
Although, after having the stress of kids I suppose some people would say a job is relaxing.
Whatever, congratulations. I hope things go well for you.
