Used both, love my Mac
No problems at all
No software conflicts, no blue screens of death, no product activation, Safari's built in ad-blocking has made me forget about popups totally
MacWorld just published a listing of Macs VS PCs. PCs led in 4 of the 6 categories. If you're doing heavy graphics or video editing, I highly suggest a Dual 2 gHz G5 with 2GB of RAM... I test drove one the other day and I couldn't believe it
And if you are worried about cost, the PCs they compared with were just as expensive if not MORE expensive
I used PCs before but gave that up after my laptop crashed 4 times in 6 months. Crashed as in became unusable without being sent in for service (new MB twice, new DVD-ROM twice)
mairving wrote: It is just a waste of time. People have their own opinions, sometimes very strong opinions and then to get mad if you dis their platform.
Not quite as bad here as other places though.
But thats why we come to forums. To find out other peoples opinions are. And it works!!!
I love MACs, but I'm writing this message on a PC, with my MAC next to it. Why dont i use my MAC all the time. Well i have software on my PC which i cant get on a MAC, or i can but it cost even more money.
It is harder to upgrade my MAC. But all in all, i would rather still have a MAC then a PC anyday. Because it has never once crashed on me, and i use Final Cut Pro at the same time as Dreamweaver, Entourage and dont forget iTunes!
Probably becasue it is similar to "what is the best car to own".
Too many variables in there that are just hard to judge which would be best. Plus there are those who will swear by what they have becasue that is all they ever used without trying the other.
Myself, I use PC becasue that is what I am used to and have easy resources to. I've never had time to actually site down with a Mac and learn them. Who know I might prefer them better if I knew them as well as I do a PC.
Its not the big software (that just cost more money if i already have it on the pc), its Freeware software/ Converters etc. Also i cant use any of my scanners/ Graphic tablets. Just that sort of thing really.
Man, that's like picking the rock or the hard place... but I guess you kind of need one of them, right?
Awww, **** it. PC... sure you don't get blue screens of death on the mac... it just doesn't bother with one. It kind of instantly freezes on you (the Imacs anyway) i don't know if the g4s or whatever do that. or if the "non'shitty" iMacs do that... I just know that mac is for people who are trying to colour coordinate a room with a computer or something... I don't know...
I love PCs. Bill gates can fry for all i care; as long as i have the convenience i love and know, who cares if he's fifty billion dollars richer by the time i get done with this post?
You should check that out -- I use the tablet on the Mac, and I know there are scanners that work with it. I don't use a scanner, but I know they are out there, lol.
Yes, i can get some, but i have already got these things. So i dont really need to buy more. If i was made of money i would. Saying that i have brought the Final Cut Pro keyboard, becuase it is very useful.
On topic: I use PC and Mac together on a network but I think eventually Apple will win the race in my house. I find it to be more stable and intuitive.
Jack... do you share printers between your PC and Mac?
I have a printer hooked up to my PC on my network but my Mac won't communicate with it
I can share files fine and all, just not printers
Any tips?
I don't have a printer at home. I live a 15 minutes walk from my work, where they have this Minolta color laser printer So there's no actual need to have one myself
Lexmark x25 / HP 990 are the printers that i have/ used, and they all work on a Mac, and shared. What are you using to get on to the network. Just Apple Sharing? Because i use a programe called "Dave" which works really well. That comes with printer sharing and some drivers.
well after the latest Mircosoft bundler I'd say more people will be jumping ship (longhorn is out, selling $4 a copy in Mayilasa, a year before release date and very big hole found in IE6 - active scripting).
I think a lot of people think that Mac is old and basic, like the old commodore 64 type thing, it sounds it. Linux sounds geeky and techo and Pc's we think of mr Gates and his bugs - how thing gets sterotyped.
I asked my neighbour for their opinion (know nothing about puters), thier responce was: Mac = raincoat, PC = a drug and Linux = a new breed of cat (lynx)

I would say that it is more like:
Windows = Toyota Camry (looks pretty good, everyone has one. Also a favorite among thieves).
Mac = Ferrari (looks awesome, runs even better but it is hard to get parts for and who can afford it).
Linux = Long Haul Truck (doesn't always look all that great but it gets the job done day end and day out. It would work even better if it didn't have to go around all of those Camry's.)
BSD = Freight Train (it is nearly impossible to stop once it finally gets rolling and it sure can carry some freight).

I thought about that when I made the comparison. Let's say Windows XP is like a new Cadillac with a 1yr. lease. It has a nice comfortable easy ride, looks pretty good but only gets 1Mpg, every year you have to get a new one and thieves love it.

That wold depend on what you are relying on windows to do. You can always rely on it to be unrelyable.
As Jack Sparrow once said:
