I don't like FPS all that much. UT/2k3 and the Quakes, if any.
I prefer RTS games, even at LANs. AoC, Starcraft, Generals, RoN (but not WC3). The only trouble is Generals and RoN don't play too well on the hardware most of us have.
Oh.. and just a note: Halo PC did work on my laptop, but not very well. I believe this is because the video card used 64MB of shared memory. So if you plan to buy a laptop and game on it, do not buy a laptop with shared memory.
When my friend gets his room floored (hard wood floor, awesome stuff) we're gunna have a 16-person XBox party. Play HALO most of the time, maybe some DDR on the side.
Overall, Halo and Quake I are my favorite LAN games to play. Starcraft is fun with the right people (like my ex-clan members)

The idea of combinging RTS with RPG was kinda cool. And I think it made for a good storyline for the single player game. But I'm just not comfortable with it in a multiplayer setup. If I wanted RPG, I'd go play an MMORPG. I think WC2 was much better in the multiplayer aspect. But I do love the pan/tilt capabilities in the WC3 engine!
The camera impressed me too, but I found it too restricted. I wasn't terribly pleased with the camera in AoM either, though I think it was better.
I never got to play WC3 single player so I'm not judging that aspect of it. I expect it's good as an RTS+RPG combo since I've heard nothing but praise for it...
Yeah, WC3 is good - nice graphics nice game play as well. Haven't played it that much - haven't got the chance to. But would definatly play it more iften if possible

The storyline of WC3 Reign of Choas into the expansion (Frozen Throne) was excellent. If for nothing else, the storyline makes the game and expansion worth it.
I do play many games online (typical ladder match ups) but people tend to lack manners.

Yip, I agree with both statments you made. I like strategy games with good storylines - makes the game more interesting.
And yes, some people on battle.net (I'm sure you play there) are just ... used to play there a lot but mostly with friends cause I didn't like the people...

For me, the most interesting storylines are historic. A good RTS would be one that realistically sims a past battle, campaign or war, with capacity for the player to "change the course of history". I haven't found any better than AoC in this regard... but Sudden Strike (II) and another game whose name I cannot recall look promising.

We had a small 6 person LAN the weekend after New Years. We played Halo PC and AoE 2 (+AoC). I don't think we played anything else.
I think I was only in one picture. My brother David is in the foregroud and I'm in the background: http://gliebetronics.com/lanparty/Photos/Winter_2004-%231/P1040952.JPG

Quake I? I don't think I've played that.
I really enjoyed Quake II.
My favorite Quake III map would be that space CTF map with jumps between sides.

Quake I is fun.
I never liked the gameplay in Warcraft III. I don't know why. Never figured out how to play it strategically (didn't have to), so that made it boring.
