Try

http://www.ezboard.com

http://www.ultimatebb.com

http://www.vbulletin.com

The last two do free ones but are limited in features.

If you don't want to mess with CGI, go with EzBoards. They're the closest thing to it. You can view an example of it at http://www.sports-central.org/message_boards/mb1.html .

I suggest the free version of UBB. There are tons of hacks for it that will make it as good as the paid version.

No hacks will make the free ubb as good as the full version Smiling

I HIGHLY recommend vBulletin at http://www.vBulletin.com

BTW - UB2k is not free and is very sluggish

Let's face it: If you want a good anything, you have to pay for it.

Everything that's free is usually buggy.

Hmm, well I know that UB2K is very buggy and slow, but I do remember a free version for personal use. Guess they scrapped that idea...

Hi

Ezboard is, well, easy! Too easy in fact. A lot of youngsters are getting into it big time. Some of us wrinklies are too! Wink
Lots of similarities to UBB and VBulletin but not as fully featured. Lots of customisation available.

Best thing to do is hop over to ezboard, register as a global user, then start setting a board up. Have a play around with it.

The ads are why it's free, but you go do get to say where they are positioned, top or bottom. If you have $ or £ to spend you can pay for the ads to be removed.

Pop over to my Nutzboard to take a peek at what a nearly finished ezboard looks like, I have changed some of the reply buttons etc. I would recomend it to any one.
