Croikey, eet's a good theeng those crocs we tame, because Oi know they can be reeeally dangerous... (Sorry, couldn't resist. )
Looks like fun, Julia. Glad you had a good time. I do pity the Santa man, though... I've always wondered how Santa got through the summer Christmas days in that suit.
By following the Weight Watchers diet at home for the last year. Still have 28lbs to go though until I'm back to what I was when I got married which is my goal for this year.
Julia - if life was meant to be easy Michael Angelo would have painted the floor....
Congratulations! I dropped about 30 on WW about a year ago. Still trying to lose another 10 or so but I've kind of been stuck where I am for the past year (dropped out of meetings last March). I'm trying a few new things with diet and exercise in the new year so hopefully by summer I'll be where I want to be.
I wouldn't go on the Atkins diet as I have heard nothing but bad reports - bad breath, tiredness, aching muscles and long term you put all the weight back on once you start eating normally again. It's a sort term solution but isn't sensible eating! IMO ww is the best way to go as you can eat whatever you want, even chocolate & alcohol

I think it's a really weird fad. All of a sudden the fast food joints are coming out with all these low carb options. Lots of restaurants in the 'states are jumping on the bandwagon. There's a whole theory behind low-carb diets that a lot of people don't know about (somehow not eating carbs puts your body into fat burning mode but I don't know the details). The sad thing is that a lot of people will start choosing the low carb options without understanding the science behind it or knowing the right way to follow the diet. Another problem is that a lot of these "low carb" solutions are just not healthy! For example, one of the new Subway low carb wraps has 27 grams of fat !!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's disgusting (under 10 g. of fat/serving for something like that is good, lower than 5 is best. Subway advertises that their healthy subs have less than 6g).
Another one is that KFC is adveritisng that their chicken is low carb, as if that means it's healthy! I'm not sure how many carbs is "low" but 11g seems like a lot. Not to mention the fat!
I agree that it's not sensible eating. If you can follow it and lose weight and keep it off that's great, but to me it's just not practical. Restricting entire food groups is a recipe for failure IMO.
I've heard only good things, and Atkins was on the diet his entire life (he died of something totally unrelated)... the reason people have problems seems to be due to not following it properly, e.g. Not taking vitamin suppliments etc.
Also it doesn't matter how much fat you consume, that's one of the attractions of the diet! I have to admit that it doesn't sound at all healthy...Food combining seems to be a much better solution.
Sorry to go totally off-topic! I just find diets, and other people's opinions particularly about Atkins) interesting.
I guess it's all about what works for you, and WW obviously worked for you Julia!

I have changed a bit since the last lot of holiday photos! About 50lbs lighter!!
We both stroked the crocodiles - they actually feel very soft, almost velvety.

Wow, you look completely different Julia!
Were the crocs tame? I wouldn't want to get that close to one - unless it had a BIG muzzle!
Looks like a great adventure...Hard to believe that gorgeous blue sky was at Christmas time!

Wow, 50lbs? How did you do it?
Looks like a great vacation! I'm quite envious (only -10C here today, but snowing. Supposed to get cold again later in the week.)
How come those photos keep disappearing when I move away from the page? Oh well, I'll have to look more later when I have time.

Has anyone here tried the Atkins diet?
I know a couple of people who've lost loads of weight really quickly, and swear by it.
