well kind of a weird question but I bought my wife a necklace for the first time as a gift this year without her input and was wondering if that's a good / bad idea from anyone with any exerience giving jewlry or if you're a female recieving it.... I bought http://www.vandrjewelry.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=739 this necklace and had each of my 4 children's birthstones put in it....

I think it's a nice present especially if your wife likes to wear the necklaces.

Jewelry is always an iffy thing to buy, IMO. I've purchased jewelry for my wife either once or twice in the nine years we've been married. The time I specifically remember, it was a very specific piece of jewelry she wanted, I think. And even then, I brought two women with me to buy it, including her best friend.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, though. I'm sure she'll like it.

Looks like something a mother of 4 would like! I like the basic design of it - not sure how it would look with all the stones in it.
I've got jewelery from past boyfriends and they usually missed my taste. He picked styles sthat weren't right for me and yellow gold which I have never been a fan of. Classic styles are always good. Diamond earrings would be a great gift for any woman
My dad often buys my mom jewelery and usually gets it right, but after all these years he knows her taste (yellow gold + diamonds).

well not getting the warm and fuzzy here but I have thick skin if I have to take it back then so be it.... She does like necklaces but this will be her first gold necklace... For her birthday she wanted a charm braclet and I bought that for her and she liked it... she wanted gold so I figured gold for the necklace as well but time will tell..

I am not a jewerly person, but that is very nice. I LOVE the art in that...the way the mother and chid is formed. It's beautiful!

It's beautiful and after all it's the thought that counts.

I'd say with the words of Marilyn Monroe: "A kiss at a hand may be quite sentimental,
but diamonds are girls' best friends".
