There are 3 black hats and 2 white hats in a box. Three men (we will call them A, B, & C) each reach into the box and place one of the hats on his own head. They cannot see what color hat they have chosen. The men are situated in a way that A can see the hats on B & C's heads, B can only see the hat on C's head and C cannot see any hats.
When A is asked if he knows the color of the hat he is wearing, he says no.
When B is asked if he knows the color of the hat he is wearing he says no.
When C is asked if he knows the color of the hat he is wearing he says yes and he is correct.
What color hat and how can this be?

That is too easy.
A sees B & C. He can't tell what his hat is. This means that B & C can't be wearing 2 white hats, since his hat would have to then be black. So here are the possibilities:
1.) B = Black, C = White
2.) B = White, C = Black
3.) B = Black, C = Black
B can't tell what he is wearing by C's hat. This means that C is not wearing a white hat, since if C was wearing a white hat his hat would have to be black. So here are the possibilities now:
1.) B = White, C = Black
2.) B = Black, C = Black.
C reviews the possibilities. B may have on either a white or a black one but he has to have on a black hat.

Here is another little riddle:
What is better than the best, more evil than demons, the poor have it and the rich need it, and if you eat it, you will die?

A bank customer had $100 in his account.
He then made 6 withdrawals, totaling $100.
He kept a record of these withdrawals, and the balance remaining in the account, as follows:
Withdrawals Balance left$50 $50
25 25
10 15
8 7
5 2
2 0
--- ---
$100 $99
'
When he added up the columns as above, he assumed that he must owe $1 to the bank. Was he right?

No- all his withdrawals total $100... He had $100 to begin with. That means his balance is now $0, and he owes $0. Besides, a bank wouldn't let you withdraw more than you have

Ahoy, blow, chin, defy, erst, flux, gist, hint, imps, know, lops, most. Twelve reasonably common words. Apart from all having four letters, what do they have in common?

All of their letters are in alphabetical order.
I don't get the $100 thing, BTW.

There is no reason why the total of the balance should equal the initial invesment. It's just pure coicidence that it came so close in that brain teaser
Example:
Initial invesment: $100Withdrawals | Balance left
$50 | $50
25 | 25
25 | 0
--- | ---
$100 | $75

Let me find another.... quick answer, BTW.

Here's one my mom gave me while I was watching Die Hard 2 last night. I worked it out durring the commercials.
Each of these numbers represents a word in the English language. If each digit represents the same letter in all of them, what are the words? (And which letter goes to which number?)

It's been nearly 3 days. Is this one too hard?
Let me post the whole thing. It's chopped in two above.
Each of these numbers represents a word in the English language.
If each digit represents the same letter in all of them, what are the words?
(And which letter goes to which number?)(6 groups of 4 numbers)

Very good!
A snail is at the bottom of a well 30 feet deep.
It crawls up 3 feet each day, but at night, it slips down 2 feet.
How long does it take for the snail to crawl out the well?

It should take 28 days for the snail to get to 30 feet... Depending on whether or not you're counting the space needed to actually get OUT of the well, it could be either 28 or 29 days.

You have a 3 gallon bottle, and a 5 gallon bottle. You need to put exactly 4 gallons on a scale, to defuse a bomb. How do you do it?

Let's see... I'd have to say fill up the 5 gallon container, then use that to fill up the 3 gallon container. you'll be left with 2 gallons in the 5 gallon container, which you can dump onto whatever container is on the scale. Then, just repeat the process again.

That one will get you because it is so easy.
12 eggs = 12 cents
100 eggs = 100 cents
100 cents = $1.00
I could have kicked myself because for some reason I started adding 12+12=24+12=36+12=48 and so on. So did several other people I told it to. Is that what you did?? Funny how the mind works.

I found the cent per egg...
1 dozen = 12 eggs
12 cents / 12 eggs = 1 cent per egg
100 cents = 100 eggs
