On the fly - refers to doing something there & then as it happens

It took me months to figure out what "IMHO" or "IMO" stood for, seen it used in these forums often but couldnt figure it out and english is my only language (unless typo counts)

Yeah there are loads of abreviations like BRB, LOL, ROFLMAO which took me a while to decipher when I first started on the internet/text messaging.
The latter here has really taken off as a major form of comunication has it where you are? Does everyone own a mobile phone, including kids, where you live?
