They are for me... I don't know about everyone else, but I probably waste 2+ hours a day on various forums that I frequent. Even those that are relevant to my work are still a major distraction and time-sink.
How do you guys cope with getting work done and still getting your daily forum fix?

I think that's hard to say because there is a lot of value to be gained from forums. I know my leadership skills have improved immensely from my participation here. Same with my ability to explain concepts to people, which is valuable in my work. I also learn a lot from participating and netowrking with people in the industry.
So I think the key is to evaluate the rewards you are getting from participating in the forum. I know I've stopped participating in quite a few forums over the years because I didn't find I was getting a lot of value out of it.
What I find difficult is stopping myself from trying to read everything. Especially here where I'm the administrator, but even on other forums where I'm just a member. I don't want to miss anything good, but end up wasting my time on a lot of crap in the meantime.

I am only in this forum, I don't tend to go to other forums. This one I must admit is more friendly than those I have not joined but read a few posts off. I find the people here very friendly and helpful and I have also helped them too. Maybe I am not forum experienced, but as this is my first and only one, I feel I enjoy participating in all aspects, even off topic conversation. That's my opinion anyway.

I used to spend alot of time gameing or waisting time using stumble upon so the forums for me are a relief. I like the things I've read from this forum and hope to participate more. So a waste of time definately not for me but I think Megan is right on when saying you need to consider the rewards vs the cost
