Hmm, well I just visited the AltaVista for the first time in a few days, and noticed they did a complete overhaul of their design. I really think they made a mistake. It looks horrible! The logo looks worse then ever. Man, I could go on for hours... What do you think? http://www.av.com

I don’t mind the change. I usually use Altavista through ask.com now anyways. I can’t stand the light yellow they used on the “Today In” table. Maybe it’s just my monitor but that’s too light a little too BRIGHT!

Maybe you should try hitting your head repeatedly against a refridgerator?
Or is that for headaches...

I don't mind the change, but I seldom use AV.

It really su..s ...
I've been using AV from the very first day, well, it was the second day, but that is really ... ugly.

Definetly too bright, but I agree that it looks a bit more "solid" than the old layout...I'm not sure which I like more. This site definetly looks more organized than the last haphazard one.
I agree...a site of that size needs to have a more attractive logo than just plain text.

Yeah, I agree that AV's logo is plainer then ever. I opened up Photoshop and reproduced the logo in like 20 seconds flat

I like the new AltaVista. It now has a much better structure making it easier to navigate. AV is just about the only search engine I use.

I think that the layout is much better than the last but the colors need to be changed. I think the logo is ok considering that it is less than 1k (906 bytes) in size. They are looking to decrease loading times rather than have a flashy look. The site has a relatively graphical look but it has very few graphics besides the logo, rounded corners and a few smal header graphics.
I rarely use AV because I find it gives irrelevent search results a lot of the time, but it does send a few visitors to one of my sites so I like it because of that.

Well, I was looking at CMPTR.COM, and came accross this article: http://www.cmptr.com/view.php?id=85
It explains pretty much why Altavista redesigned. Oh yeah, I think I figured out what I don't like. There is too much space around the logo, the logo is too plain, and the corners of the tabs aren't rounded. That's my review in a nutshell

I like the design, loads fast, the little graphics they have, are nice. (not the logo, its simple and effective but the graphics like: Shopping Entertainment, News and Search Guides.) Thos graphics are nice, the yellows look good with the small amoun of blue, orange and green text.
I think AV is awonderful search engine, i use it all the time

I don't use AltaVista but the older design was better in my opinion. However, this one seems to fit higher resolutions better.
