Hi Justin, welcome to the forums!
For a simple and solid FTP/SFTP client you could use FireFTP. It's just a Firefox extension.
Feel free to join in with any other threads you find interesting on the forums.

FireFTP doesn't do sFTP right now.
You can use Konquerer with fish:// if you're on Linux. Or connect directly to the server on OSX or Linux. That's mainly what I do now. On OSX I sometimes use Cyberduck, and when I was on Windows I used CuteFTP.

The new version of KDE is cross-platform, so it should be possible to use Konqueror on Windows (natively) soon too. http://windows.kde.org/
Probably not ready for general use (even the GNU/Linux version of KDE 4 is pretty buggy for me), but very promising. A file browser that can work over SSH/SFTP is pretty cool, the fact that it's Dolphin is even better.

I was a big fan of FireFTP myself (still am) until I started using Filezilla and saw just how much faster it was for me.

That's odd. The Filezilla client works on all platforms, but the server is Windows only?! That's backwards surely! Not that I care, there are plenty of good FTP servers for *nix, maybe that's why they made a Windows one.

Hi, generally in free FTP solution both the client and the server are available. One secure FTP sever I know which is very cost efficient and have advanced features called as *snip* Secure FTP Server.I have practically experienced this system and it helps you and serves as a convenient way to transfer files in a secure mode. It is available both as a web based service requiring no software installation, and as a downloadable application that you can install locally.

Hi there, welcome to TWF! We've had a lot of people signing up two accounts in order to spam products recently, so I'm removing the link from your post just in case.
I hope you understand, as soon as we know you a little better we won't be so mistrustful! Before recommending any more products/services would you mind introducing yourself to the community? Thanks!
*** EDIT ***
Just so you know: to introduce yourself, just start a new topic in the Introductions forum.

These two have similar IP addresses, they both recently regestered, they both only have one post. The original post was asking about a particular service with strange wording. The second poster conveniently had just the right answer to the question!
It's kind of obvious. You're just being polite

Split personality?
Anyway, if there's no one to say hello to, CuteFTP is my choice.

Hi Justin! Is SFTP a free solution?

SFTP means SSH File Transfer Protocol. It is 'free' in that it's an open specification anyone can implement. Really, it's just a protocol, like FTP, or HTTP.
It's the same as HTTP: To see anything over HTTP you need a Web browser (like Opera or Firefox). Neither HTTP or SFTP are free solutions in the way you're thinking about them. As you still need a client that can work with the protocol: like a Web browser for HTTP and a client for SFTP, such as Konqueror, FireFTP etc.
Anyway, not trying to be rude or demean you, just wanted to help explain things.

ok I am moving a few Drupal sites (with lots of modules) from one host to another - don't ask it's like being a refugee from oppression getting away from StartLogic..
I agree that Filezilla is a terrific app and very quick - and I do use it for SFTP and I think even SSH FTP-
But I also like very much SmartFTP, particularly because you can open multiple panes on remote and local connections - ie you can work on two sites on different servers (or the same server) at the same time. SmartFTP also doubles as a basic filemanager.
My new host? BlueHost

I use Coffee Cup free FTP but there are a few more solutions out there that will get the job done.
