Hi,

I am new to the forum. I have just set up a website using Mr Site. I would like some advice on how my site looks, what I need to improve. I also have found out that the title of my site is misspelt- so the title is appearing in google as studetzstuff.com, although the address is correct www.studentzstuff.com. I have emailed Mr Site about this but they have not got back- does anyone know how I can solve this? Any advice on the look of my site and any tips are very welcome. I am an absolute beginner so have no technical knowledge at all.

Thank you

nottschris.

Well, that's precisely what he is doing by asking here Smiling

Looks like you got a reply from Mr site (below). Good they replied here, although not sure why they didn't email you directly?

Hi there
You can add/change your website title in Mr Site by going to Option 2: How Many Pages?. Then fill in the title in the "Site Title" box and click "Continue" then publish the site through Main Menu > Option 4: Publish Your Site.

Our "Website Critique Forum" is for obtaining feedback on your site. It does have some specific requirements, so make sure to read the rules first.

You will likely receive more responses and obtain a better critique of your site if you use that forum.

-------------------------------------------------

That said...

First impression, your site is quite neat and tidy, navigation is easy to find and simple to use.

The content from the links "Books", "Links to useful sites" and "MP3 and Accessories" could be better. The text telling me to use the sub-links is different sizes on each link, and on "MP3" and "Links" the main page content is blank.
Maybe put the sub-links on the main page content for the main links. Or simply have content for the main links.

"under construction" is a bit of a no-no usually (your blog), just remove the link for the page until it's done.
I clicked it and got nothing, a bit dissapointing and waste of time.
Homepage you could have "blog coming soon"

The money saving ideas is good. You might want to add "don't buy cheap loo roll, it's a false economy" Laugh

Hi
To remove the Under Construction sign from your Mr Site site, go to Admin>F: Under Construction> and untick the "enable your under construction" box and then publish your site.

Thanks for pointing out such a useful website. I heard about Mrsite for a while but never tried it. Currently, I used just free CMS like Wordpress, Joomla, and Drupal. Perhaps, this is a good time to have a try.

theunofficialforum.co.uk — This is an interesting one. In the interests of their customer's welfare Mr Site appear to want to de-index the only current self-help forum that's available so they can replace it with their own, which is not yet launched. Genius marketing I have to say. Seems strange they were a contributor to the site prior to their objections. Odd.

Hi, We are in the process of setting up our first "mr site "site. The sub menu's in some pages are moving to the left of the page when you click on them and are not staying central like the rest of the pages on the site.

Am I doing something wrong in the set up ???? Please help if you can it's driving me mad !!!

sorry if I've written this in the wrong place - have never used a forum either !!
