Well, I'm new here and just wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm hoping to spend some time here when I have it and learn what I can about website development. I've kind of just picked it up as a hobby... I have a lot to learn

Well, I decided a few years ago to start learning html on my own. Started building a site as I was learning for about the first 4 or 5 months... then I ended up getting busy with my work, going overseas for a couple of years, and didn't really touch it at all. Then in the past 3 or 4 months I finally finished up my site, thethirdoption.net (I know it'll always be a work in progress) and finally got it on the www. I did build it with straight html as I know nothing about other types of programs. I'm sure I'll ask for a review of it in a little while so I can get some ideas and improve upon it.
Thanks guys, I'm enjoying this place and feeling welcome already.

Welcome Muldoon!
Starting as a hobby is probably the best way to get started. Many people try selling their services straight away, with zero experience. Ever met a plumber that did that and got away with it? I haven't!

Thanks guys!
SearchBliss,
Thanks for the advice. I will never take it too seriously as this is supposed to be a fun thing, hehe. I'm just feeling what I'm sure everybody felt when they first started a messageboard... hehe. I've been gone all week working long hours so I'm looking forward to spending a little time here this weekend!
