Hi,
My name is Dave and I'm living in Port Elizabeth in South Africa.
I'm here principally because I have made my first forays into Drupal and am finding it tough going.
I'm reasonably handy with Perl, Javascript and HTML, but I'm afraid that Drupal does not appear to be entirely intuitive.
I'm not recommending my hosts anymore until they sort out my hacked sites

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum
You've come to the right place for Drupal, our forum is built on it!
I don't have knowledge in the workings of it myself, but plenty of others here do

Thanks Greg!
I might hit the forum now and see what kind of response I get.
I've been terribly disappointed with Drupal's own help forums and it seems to me that some 33% of of request for help there go without any response (I was counting some eight or nine unanswered threads on every page with around 25 threads).
I don't want to sound like I'm complaining because people are giving of their time and effort for free and it's not unappreciated.
However, I need to find somewhere where I can ask questions and be pointed in the right direction.
An associate of mine (actually my cousin) came up with a proposal to build a website and I convinced him that, for what he proposed a fairly sophisticated CMS would be necessary. What I didn't anticipate was the learning curve and our deadlines have been slipping drastically on the project and principally because I have been pretty much all at sea.
This was slightly unexpected because, although I am new to Drupal, I have quite a bit of programming experience.
Anyway, I'm looking to remedy this, and I hope you guys can help me!

Maybe a lot of the unanswered are simply massively repeated questions/suggestions that are docs or multiple posts.
I do with Wordpress support, as it seems to have 75% of posts unanswered.

But to get exactly what you want from your particular requirements isn't always a case of 10 minute install and point and click.
Anyway, start a thread with your queries. As said, I wont be able to help with Drupal specific things as I haven't had time to play with it yet, but someone will help you out

Wow 75%!
I really didn't expect to have a complete handle on Drupal, no 10 minute installation, point and click! Mind you the installation was a breeze.
However, it's been some weeks now and, although the bones of the site is up and functioning, we have been unable to implement the functionality of the website in a way that we would want which has been disappointing.
Anyway, enough of me whinging, thanks very much for making me feel at home here.
