Welcome! My ex-boyfriend and his dad were really into hunting and fishing and all that. The first time I went over there for dinner we had moose! That was a new experience!

Welcome. I live in the southern US. The day hunting season starts is almost like a holiday, since everyone is off work and out of school and in the woods.

mairving, that sounds like what it's like around here. Our school gives us the first two days of deer season off. They figure that most of the students wouldn't be there anyway and many of the teachers would complain, so they just give us off.
Meagan, I've never had moose, here in the eastern US, we don't have moose. Someday I want to go to Alaska and hunt moose.

Well, guess I'll introduce myself here too, interesting reads here so I'll probably be in and out. I've worked with computers on and off for about 7 years and started the webwork in earnest last year. There is just so much out there on the Web, I can't count the hours I've spent following threads and links into the wee hours of the morning. I like the forums out here too, you run into all kinds of people and I think everyone has something to share that will benefit someone else.

welcome one and all.
Megan, can't say I have ever had moose! Had crocodile, kangaroo, possum and wombat though. Australia seems to have gone crazy trying to find its own exotic foods. Give me a pizza any day!

Ostrich seems to be the new 'in' thing here and you can also get crocodile tail cutlets. Can't say I would ever want to try any of them, I'll stick to chicken and beef

We don't get crocodile or ostrich roaming either unless you count them in the freezer cabinet as local wildlife!

We don't get Crocs or Ostrich running around in the wilds of Central PA Usa either. We have deer turkeys and squirrels though. All good eating.

You bet! Nothing like a good tenderloin (deer).
They are so pretty in the wild though. We have deer come in our yard and eat pears. Beautiful site.
Here's a good one. Ever eat rocky mountain oysters?

never ate Oysters. Did eat clams though.
Yeah, deer are pretty, but if people like me didn't keep their numbers in check, they'd eat all of your pears in addition to many shrubs and bushes plus all of the undergrowth in the woods. That is until they ran out of food and starved to death.

Rocky Mountain Oysters are not your average oyster. LOL They are actually bull testicles. And quiet squishy I might add. I tried them once at a cook out. BLAH!!
I totally understand about the deer population overload. I come from a family full of avid hunters who would rather walk in the woods carrying their gun than eat. And what gets me is they always come home and tell about the "big one that got away". LOL
I was also the only child of a dad who tried to turn me into a boy so I have sat on a few tree stands myself. That was a long time ago though. Loved every minute of it.
