To the Webmaster Forums,

My name is Peter, who is a under graduate student in the southeast United States of America. I'm also legally blind using a screen reader for future reference called Window-Eyes from GW-Micro at http:///www.gwmicro.com in case you were wondering why I won't post on anything visual on the forums or understand your visual cues. So, I plan to attend graduate level in computer science after I complete my under graduate in social science/history education as some technologies change so much that I'm unsure whether or not I could do programming as a professionl career option in the states. I chose the safeway of picking the secure stable position and program at nights when the busy AU life passes me by in education courses. If you don't know what a screen reader is I'll explain quickly. A screen reader (e.g speech synthesizer) speaks aloud text on the screen on browsers, word processor documents, spreadsheets, powerpoints, and other applications mainly on Windows OS, however, some ground work is in the works for Apple Macs and Lennox in the future to equal the Windows System in regardss to the blind.
So, I have my site at my signature in case you have visual comments that would always be nice to hear. I can't give comments on others sites unless it's accessability or navigation through a keyboard layout sort of way not a visual gui interface. The languages that I'm familar or have exposure in are HTML, CSS, XHTML, and some JavaScript for the time being. I'm just confused on where to get accurate information because there is literally thousands of places online for cheapely made pathetic tutorials on all languages. My resources under help under programming directory file has all of the ones that I know of. However, if you have more than I have just let me know PM or on this post, but prefereably the pm system is best. I want to make a PBBG Game for the blind and sighted to play with in the future just text based only! I wish to also make free software for people to use around the world completely free with no strings attached just no security assurances from users just mainly a open source environment. Okay, write me on the forums anad I'll scatter around the forums a bit. Nice to be part of the community and I have some accessability challenges on the forums that I would like to see be inplemented on the site in the future. By the way, if you aren't w3.org validated you can go and do it for you clients and it's not that hard!

Peter,
Welcome. I am so glad to find you here. For the Web to be truly World Wide, content must be accessible to any capable device, not just graphical displays. So if I ever get to putting my new website online I'll be asking for your evaluation... (grin).

I agree that most programming advice on the Web is unhelpful, but with recent interest by companies like Yahoo and Google in promoting Web standards, some useful guidelines and tutorials are emerging from the morass. From looking at your website I see you already know far more than I do, but I'll try to help with any specific questions you have with the client side of things.

Cordially, David.

David,

Nice to hear back so quickly as the forum appears to be a graveyard or something. Mmmmm, yeah, I have a desscent site that I haven't upgraded in like a few months! It's horrible being in college being drained away from your true hobbies and social gatherings. However, it's all going to be okay. I want to know where the authors of these books and tutorials learn theri information? I want to cut the middle guy out completely and utterly. This is frustrating to see it constantly change I'd rather go to their website to learn the framework and look at all major browsers and monitor sets being used in the market and make the code in my own tutorial for the low vision and blind to use tutorials. This is one of my goals in the future. I also want to make a whistle blowing site for big firms with free donations to buy recording devices, paper, pens, or free legal advice and the software and those things simular to the pbbg game of course. Nice to hear back from you and see you round the forum.
