This has to be one of the most ridiculous posts on any forum I've ever seen.
Do you seriously expect people with masters and phd's to write academic papers for $28 per thousand words?
I'm a copywriter with barely 2/3rd's of a sociology degree and I wouldn't write academic papers for less than five times that!

Interesting point however I think both of you are "right" when it comes to pricing.
The OP is probably correct in stating they will pay 15% higher than the industry standard. It just so happens the industry standard payment for writing is very low. I'm doing a big re-write project right now which pays *substantially* less than it should.
However advertisingspec's outrage isn't misplaced. It is almost beyond the pale for the industry to tell its writers who produce good quality content that they are going to be paid in peanuts.
I've completed a college level technical writing class and should be able to expect high pay. But on the other hand web masters need LOTS of articles and can't afford to pay $25 per 700 word article.

The "demands" of this job ad are ludicrous. "Defend" your work? Send copy of diploma? An experienced, professional copywriter would pass this by and rightly so. Starting out as a copywriter is difficult and competitive and there are always webmasters who prefer to pay starvation wages to Third World writers whose first language is NOT English. However, if you stick with it and do a very good job, you can manage to keep your self respect and gain the respect of others who employ your services.
