There are many other ways besides ads for google to make money. In fact, google would still probably be able to rack in more than enough to stay operational from solely their "private investors".

See, google is more than just a search engine, it is a way to search. Because of this they are WELL funded by those who need to be able to search. Like large enterprises for instance.

People have been dying to get ahold of information the way that google effortlessly seems to, and thus, the rich ones say "here have a few G's"...

First things first. First you have to have a site that everyone or a whole bunch of people want to go to. Then you can start figuring out how to make money. Google wouldn't make anything selling ads if no one visited them.

In google's IPO it was revealed that more than 2/3 of their profit is coming from adwords and adsense. That is also why they are getting a little more concerned about click fraud.

For your free information site, using google adsense with a format that blends the ads (same background color for instance) into your content is best.

Google probably makes alot of money with adsense. Especially as you can only withdraw from the profit when it reaches $100.

I bet there is a tonne of people who started to use adsense, and then never got to $100. Money in the bank gaining interest for google.

Google gets paid everytime someone clicks one of the sponsored linkson their search engine. Everyone wants to advertise on google! Then you have people using AdSense to put google's sponsored links on their site so that they get paid, but really google is making most of the money, they only give a webmaster a portion of what the advertiser is paying.

In short, google makes money for being google. Everyone wants to make money off their sites, so they look for advertisement. Well, google pays people to put the adds that people are paying them to put on pages to put on pages. confused? good, that's what they want!! jkjk

Anyway, advertisement is the key. There are tons of places that you can get good paying advertisement. Try http://www.paypopup.com and you can also use the google ads. The more ads, the more money!

Google makes some of its money through it's Adwords, which is where people pay to have the ads on other people Adsence displays (and the right column of search results), its not just paying for x amount of ads, its keywords based on topics and costs the person x amount of dollars every display/click - can get very expensive for a person/company.

There are lots of free sites out there that dont earn a cent, there are others that have so many ads and banners and junk am surprised they make a cent.
