Well I haven't used the php forum scripts yet, so if I'm wrong I hope someone will correct me but...

All the (cgi) forum scripts I've installed (and I'm sure the php ones are no exception) come with a read me file. Open that text file first and read it all the way through. It will explain what version of php your server will need to have installed or will give you the link to the documentation to find the info.

Usually they will include a short script that you can run on your server to check to make sure your host has the right versions of everything you need to run the package.
If it's a script you have to pay for very often they will offer a "light" version or at least a test program to run to make sure you can run the full script before you buy it.

Also go to the forum where you download the script and read what praises and problems other users have with it. Sometimes that can tell you a lot of what you need to know.

The script itself does everything, but it requires MySql. You have to know how to setup a database and thats about it.

Thanks man, this looks very interesting. Do I need any additional software to administer this thing, I know some of the packages require Pearlscrip or something like that. (sorry I'm a web design idiot).

PS Sauraun, I like your crock. Is he trying to bite the title or does it just looke like that. I did get it to run ok, I think it was my computer. I looked at the guy from the UK who was trashing you and his is so dark you can't make anything out. It's a good thing he's so professional :flame:
