Yes, that text is really hard to read but the anti-aliasing has something to do with that. Once you get it into HTML it'll be sharper, but you may still want to increase the size a bit and lighten it up if necessary.

Overall this looks really good. I like the interaction of textures, although I'm not sure that the one you've used for the main header is quite right. Work does need to be done with fonts. Particularly the fonts for the logo and the navbar. The logo font could be more dramatic and interesting, and the navbar definitely shouldn't be done in a serif. Either use a simple sans to match the body or a fancy font to match the header.

I also think that you should move the logo text and silhouette to one side rather than centering it. And put the text beside rather than centered on top. You could then try adding some dimension to the background with some variation in colour or something. That silhouette could also be sharper and clearer.

Great job!

Actually, now that I'm reading the text here, I'm thinking that this design may not be the most appropriate consiering the purpose of the site. For a personal site, great, for a business site I'm not so sure that this is the way to go.

Well it's certainly a nice and clean layout. However, I think the colour of the text you are using in the main body of the site is a bit too dark. Why not try lightening it up a bit? Other than that though, it seems ok for me at 800 * 600 on IE6.
