Actually for steaming (actually simulated streaming, MP3.com uses this method) here is what you do. Take an MP3(or make one) place it on the server, then use something like winamp and play the file from the webserver. It will add it to a empty playlist. Save the playlist, it is a w3u file. Then link to the w3u file. Now unless the people check the properties, this w3u file will stream the file from your server.

To be sophisticated, you can use MySQL and PHP to dynamically move and rename the file, create the m3u, let the user be able to play it, then after you are sure they have heard it move the file back and restore its proper name. This will prevent large leeching of MP3's. mp3.com does not do this to my knowledge and I have download a few song without needing to visit the page, because I had a working playlist.

Well just a suggestion

How does CDex work? Do I just download their version 1.50 and it will walk me through creating the mp3 files?

iTunes on the mac -- otherwise I agree that mp3s are better for this method of distribution.

I prefer CDEX for ripping CD's, plus it's free.

1- You will need a extraction software for that the windows recorder can do but i think it is limited in the length of the recording.
2- no wav are very heavy use mp3 instead if you get another extractor then windows recorder you will probably have this format available
3- yes it's that simple
