    <description> &lt;p&gt;mySQL not only validates users based on their username and password, but also on the hostname of the machine they are connecting from.  You&#039;ll have to check your `mysql.user` table and check to see what the `host` field is set to for the user you are trying to connect as.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If the value is &quot;%&quot;, that is a wild card and you may connect from any host. If the value is &quot;localhost&quot;, you may only connect from localhost. There may be more than one record for any given user/pass combination.&lt;/p&gt;
